ArthurAutumn is a self taught Painter who began sketching and drawing as early as he can remember, on anything that was around, napkins, bedroom walls, siblings, and sometimes the kitchen table. Being a Musician first, he views painting as an expression of visual melody, as in if you could visualize melody; it may look like some of his work. He works mostly in the acrylic medium, though in the same way he approaches songwriting, all paintings begin from a very raw and organic sketch. From whimsical imagery, to abstract movements, his work aims to take the viewer on an abstract journey where something new can be discovered within each viewing. As with all of ArthurAutumn's work, the answer is not just handed to you, but through visual metaphors the viewer is encouraged to find themselves within them.
The first 5 of these ArthurAutumn Paintings were created under Stay At Home orders in Los Angeles during the pandemic of 2020. They found Arthur exploring a different direction with a focus on color and texture. They attempt to capture the fears, anxieties, and hope that we all feel during these uncertain and troubled times.
